playMGM brand, which is managed by MGM Resorts International, is all set to launch new online casinos and poker games in New Jersey, which was announced on Wednesday. According to GVC Holding’s new agreement, they have agreed to operate MGM’s online gambling.

GVC and MGM have not collaborated for the first time. The software that manages the poker site and online casino under the brand called ‘Borgata’, is been powered by GVC since 2013. 50 percent of Borgata’s stakes were held by MGM, when iGaming had gone live. Flagship casino of Atlanta City’s complete control was taken over last year in August.

But the real money casino and poker games offered by it, for the very first time have MGM’s name attached.

“We are delighted to extend our relationship with MGM Resorts and to be launching casino and poker under the playMGM brand in New Jersey,” was said in a press release by GVC’s Chief Operating Officer Shay Segev. “MGM Resorts is quite simply one of the biggest and best names in the business, and we look forward to working with them for many years to come.”

“This is a historic moment for MGM Resorts to be launching real money online casino and poker under the MGM brand for the first time,” said the Chief Operating Officer of MGM Resorts, Corey Sanders. “GVC has been a first-rate partner for us, and we are excited about the possibilities of extending that partnership as regulated markets open up in the U.S.”

NJ’s Online Gaming and Its Peak Makes MGM Enter the Market

When online gambling reached its peak in New Jersey, it made the announcement of launching online casino and poker games. The revenue of online casinos of NJ was $21 million in March. It set a new record of highest ever revenue generated.

The strong branding of Borgata was responsible for the early lead enjoyed by them, post iGaming’s launch in 2013. But Golden Nugget soon took over the top position, but fifth of the market is still held by Borgata. Even smaller AC casinos have realized their potential and are challenging Borgata.

iGaming’s Evolution by MGM

Online gambling has been significant for MGM, which has become visible in recent years.

  • Regulation of online gambling has been asked by CEO Jim Murren.
  • New York’s online poker regulation was supported by MGM.
